Idayls Baptism

Hello, beautiful people!

This week was superb. Wanna know why?

IDALYS GOT BAPTIZED!!!

We've been working really closely with her for the past couple of months, and yesterday she was baptized. It's been so cool to see her progress. She is one of my favorite people in the world and I'm so proud of her!

The baptism was so great. Wanna know why?

EDWARD BAPTIZED HER!

Yes, our good friend Edward. A recent convert of a month and half. He is now a worthy, steadfast priesthood holder. He is a great leader here in our branch in Boston.

It was total bliss to see the lives of two people I've come to love so dearly be blessed by the Gospel. The Gospel is so true! The best moment of yesterday was right after Idalys came up out of the water, Edward goes,

"YOU'RE BAPTIZED!"

Hahaha I will quote that kid for days.

To celebrate, Hermana Bybee and I went to Idalys' house and set a baptismal date with  her grandma, Luz, and her brother, Isaiah! They'll be baptized in three weeks on the 8th of November. They all came to the baptism, along with Idalys' aunt, Angelica. I love how the church truly does bring families together.

In other news, we had exchanges this week with the Portuguese sisters. I went to the Portuguese program with Sister Knutti and we had an adventurous day, which included the following:

1. Setting a baptismal date with Maria, AKA "Gugu"
2. Giving service at a Senior Center for Cape Verdeans... We danced with them. It was one of those infinite moments.
3. Getting terribly lost in Dorchester
4. Contacting TONS of people

It was a great exchange and I learned a lot. I am really grateful I can serve as a Sister Training Leader. I've learned so much from the incredible sisters in our zone. What a privilege it is.

Well, I love you all! All is well in Zion! Hahaha but really, the mission is so wonderful. I testify that when we are willing to make sacrifices to our Lord, the blessings that come are more precious and of more worth than anything we could ever give him. The Lord truly is a God of miracles.

A Living Prophet

GENERAL CONFERENCE WAS MAGICAL!

We are seriously so blessed to have a living prophet! Thomas S. Monson is truly a man of God!
I loved getting to watch General Conference in Spanish. At the beginning of the Saturday morning session, I said a silent prayer that I'd be able to understand the Spanish, and I did! I really do believe God blesses me with the gift of tongues and interpretation every single day here!

He is so good to me!

Right now we have a LOT of investigators we are working closely with. We have four baptismal dates coming up in the next two months. I am praying so hard that everything goes according to plan. Idalys, Isaiah, Juan, and Rene. I love these people so much. What a tender mercy it is to be filled with the pure love of Christ!

God really is so good to me.

I really feel so blessed to have been able to listen to General Conference this weekend. I loved President Uchtdorf's talk about the simplicity of the Gospel. It truly is simple, and we really should "Simplify our discipleship." God really does trust His children to carry forth this week. I loved hearing the testimonies of the three new apostles called. I know they are really called of God!

God is good.

I LOVE YOU ALL!

Happy, happy week! And happy fall!

Love,
Hermana Webber

PS: Fall in Boston is magical. Thought you'd want to know.

EMBARK

Dear Family & Friends,

Hey.

Transfers were this week.
I am staying with Hermana Bybee.
We are SPRINTING.

There is a new elder here in the Boston Spanish branch. His name is Elder Davis and he's adorable. He just came straight from the Mexico MTC and Elder Villar is training him. He's a champ. A super hard worker with a great attitude. We are really happy to be working with him.

This week was superb here in Boston. We are working really closely with a beautiful family. Luz Sanchez, and her granchildren, Idalys, Isaiah, and Alex. They came to church on Sunday and Idalys and Isaiah have committed to being baptized on October 18th! :)

So, something I really wanted to write home about this week was a section in the Doctrine and Covenants. In every missionary meeting we have, each of us stand up and recite this section in D&C together. "O ye that EMBARK in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day."
It's a powerfully spiritual experience every time, to see us all standing as one, stating our purpose as missionaries.

This is the 2015 Youth Theme in the church... And it is my hope that people are taking this theme seriously!!!

Last night, Hermana Bybee and I had the privilege of attending a Youth Fireside with Idalys :) President Holmes, the Young Men's General President, came and spoke. There were youth from all over New England gathered to listen and it really felt like an army of God had assembled to receive guidance from him. The Spirit there was tangible.

President Holmes taught us about our identity as SONS and DAUGHTERS of God. He taught us of our divinity and our potential... That we can truly come to be like our Father in Heaven is. After teaching about our identity... He taught us about our purpose.

When we are baptized and confirmed as members of this church, with make a COVENANT, or a sacred promise, with God that we will take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ. Each day, when we go to school, or to work, or out on the town, or wherever it may be, who do we represent? Are we living our lives in a way that, by a stranger, we would be recognized as a DISCIPLE of Jesus The Christ?

Think about it.

When we were baptized, we covenanted with our Lord that we would EMBARK in His service... Are we all living in such a way that we serve him with all our "heart, might, mind and strength?" Are we consecrated to our Heavenly Father? Can we put him before all else? Before facebook, instagram, twitter, trends, make-up, clothing, shoes, cars, television, friends.... Are we putting our Lord first?

It's an interesting concept. I think the GREATEST way to EMBARK in the service of God is by preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ to EVERY CREATURE. Embarking in such a great cause, in the cause of saving human souls, is the greatest thing I have ever done in my life. I have a long way to go, but I testify that this is the most important thing any of us could ever do.

So, my challenge to you all (especially you young folks) is to EMBARK.
Share His gospel.
Do it with all the energy of your heart.
I promise, the blessings that will come are beyond anything you could imagine.
They are eternal blessings.

I love you all!

Love,
Hermana Webber

Best Birthday/Week EVER!

Hellooooooooo!

I have the best companion in the world!!! For my birthday last week, we went APPLE PICKING! We went to Honey Pot Hill Farms and picked apples with some of my favorite missionaries in the mission. It was such a happy day. It really felt like fall!

Hermana Bybee and I are staying together for another transfer!!! I AM SO HAPPY! This is the first companion I will be with for more than 2 transfers. We have seen so many miracles together here in Boston!

This week was solid. We went on a double exchange (allow me to explain)! Sister Bybee and I are the Sister Training Leaders in our zone, so we go on exchanges with all the sisters here. This week, we did two in a row! On Tuesday, Sister Holt (Boston English Sister) came to the Spanish area with me and we were so blessed! We found two new investigators together! :) Then, that night, we exchanged with the Portuguese Sisters. Sister Marques came with me on Wednesday and we also had a fabulous day. Miracles really do happen on exchanges! The sisters in our zone are phenomenal missionaries. I feel really blessed that I have been given the privilege of getting to go on exchanges with them for the past three months. I learn so much from them each time. They are truly some of the greatest, most talented missionaries in the world. Even though it was

We are finding new investigators left and right. They are all over the place. We are currently teaching 18 people and they are all progressing! The Lord is hastening His work here in Boston in preparation of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. I am so blessed to be a part of it!

Shout out to Jessica for being a Homecoming Attendant (or whatever they're calling it these days). You are still the most beautiful girl I know!

I love you all! The church is so true! Press forward, my fellow Americans!

Love,
Hermana Webber

Happy Birthday Hannah! :)

Hey, people! Thanks so much for the bday wishes!

Sorry I haven't written in a couple weeks. Last week we went to the temple and then didn't have time to get on to email. I had a really cool experience there! I got to help a woman from the rainforest get situated and help her get her family names to be baptized for. It was probably one of the most peculiar afternoons I've ever had. Her name was Trinidad.

We have another baptism coming up in a couple weeks. His name is Juan Patrone. We contacted him on the bus and he is SOLID! He loves the lessons and says he knows the Book of Mormon is true! I am so stoked about him!!! He came to church and had an incredible experience.

Two weeks ago we put on zone meeting in our zone. Our theme was HASTENING THE WORK! We are focusing on overcoming fear. Perfect love casteth out ALL fear, so that's what the goal is: To help our members, investigators and ourselves cast out fear by having more love and by doing the will of the Lord! Zone meeting was great and as a zone this month we have a goal to have one baptism and find 13 new investigators each week in September!!! The goal 13:1

IT'S GONNA HAPPEN!!!

Also, today I am 20. Hermana Bybee is taking me somewhere... I'm not quite sure where, but we will see! She's the greatest companion ever.

There is nowhere in the world I would rather be! I hope you all know how much I love you! I am so happy to being doing God's work. It's exhilarating, challenging, and the greatest thing I've ever done in my entire life. I love you all!! Have a happy, happy week!

Love,
Hermana Webber

The Lower Lights

"Brightly beams our father's mercy
From His lighthouse ever more,
But to us He gives the keeping
Off the lights upon the shore...
Let the lower lights be burning,
Send a gleam across the way.
Some poor fainting, struggling sea-man,
You may rescue, you may save."

So, I finally realized what the heck this song is talking about!

WE are the lower lights! The lower lights are a series of lights along a shore that guide ships to the harbor when they can't see the higher lights coming from a lighthouse! If Christ is the light shining from a lighthouse, then that would make us the ones who guide others, along the way, to him! WE are the lower lights! We can guide people to safety, wee can rescue, and we can save!

Hermana Bybee and I sang this hymn in sacrament meeting yesterday. The lyrics are better in Spanish, jaja, and I felt the Spirit burning in my chest as we sang to our branch about missionary work. :) This branch is gonna be a WARD soon! I just know it!

Speaking of saving, our investigator, Edward Tapia, was BAPTIZED YESTERDAY!!!

It was the smoothest, most spirit-filled baptism I've ever witnessed. Edward is the most golden investigator I've ever had the privilege of teaching, and it's been such a joy to witness his conversion over the past month. He texted us the night before his baptism and said, "Is there anything I should study on my last night as an investigator??" Man, what a champ!!!

He truly has been converted to this gospel, which means SO much more than just a baptism...

Edward's been coming out with us almost every day this week to help us teach, and he invited a bunch of non-members to his baptism. He's such a great missionary! He brought one of his best friends to church yesterday and she stayed for the baptism. Afterwards, he ran up to Hermana Bybee and I and said, "I gave her a Book of Mormon! I accomplished your challenge! Does that count as a new investigator??"

This kid is gonna bring so many souls unto Christ!

If only everyone realized the joy you receive in sharing the Gospel, no one in this church would ever go astray. That is probably the most important thing we can do as members of this church; SHARE IT WITH OTHERS! :)

In other news, Hermana Bybee and I picked up a beautiful family of investigators this week. The Gonzalez family. I LOVE them! Pray for them, please! :)

Well, my thoughts are also turned to Ryan Tomac today as I heard about the news... Ya know, he was a lower light too... He was such an INCREDIBLE leader in our community and at THS... I love him and I hope his family is doing well. Don't ever doubt the power of prayer!!! Pray for them too!!!

I love you all!!! I love being a missionary. I know the Lord is counting on us to guide his children safely home to Him. Let's GOOOOO!!! :)
